Hi, I’m Chef Shelley. I’m the chef and owner of Elegant Eats. I’ve been a personal chef for going on 12 years. I received my training as a Personal Chef through the Culinary Business Academy and also have a diploma in Gourmet Cooking and Catering from PCDI. I became a personal chef when I got too old and tired to do catering and work in restaurants “front of the house”. By “old and tired” I mean, had children.
My favorite cooking “classes” have been at the Apple Farm in Philo, California which is in the Anderson Valley about 100 miles north of San Francisco. It’s very near Sharffenberger Cellars which is a winery that does an excellent sparkling wine in the champagne style. The Apple Farm is owned by the Schmitt family who were the original owners and founders of The French Laundry when it was more of a French bistro style restaurant.
I have a Bachelor’s Degree from Sonoma State University, also in the wine country of California. All this cooking and wine-ing have contributed to the development of a formidable collection of recipes I have culled over
twenty five many years. I have a great foundation of the tried and true and a constant searching for the new and different so my clients have hundreds of recipes to choose from and never need have the same thing twice if they wish.
In the past I’ve been very active in the community serving on the Board of Directors for the Frisco Farmers’ Market and am a graduate of Leadership Frisco Class 8 which founded the Frisco Cares Children’s Clinic. I have served on the board of my neighborhood HOA and on the PTA of both boys’ schools.
Currently I’m just focused on work and raising two little boys in the ‘burbs, one of which is a great eater, and one who eats SEVEN THINGS and that’s it.
Sometimes, I even manage to make dinner for my family.
My pledge to you…
- I will limit myself to
onetwo exclamation points per post. Because they’re annoying, nothing is that exciting.
- I will, however, frequently start sentences with a conjunction.
- I will not use Cool Whip. But I will use Readi-Whip. (see rule #1)
- My photos, when even present, will probably not be great. This site is about food, not photography. I’m busy getting on to the eating part.
- I will not take the absolutely, most perfect looking morsel to post a picture of, making you feel incompetent when what you’re making doesn’t turn out look looking the same.
If you have questions for me, feel free to ask on this page and I’ll do my best to steer you in the right direction, or shoot me an email to [chef at chefintheburbs dot com]. Thanks for reading now get to eating!
